Seek the shade. Stay away from the sunny side of the street and try to avoid direct sunlight!

Early morning or after sunset runs. Check out a weather app (we recommend Dark Sky) to check for the coolest times of day.

Check your effort. Pace based on perceived effort, not actual time. If your 7:30 pace normally feels like a 7/10 effort, do whatever a 7/10 effort feels like today.

Electrolytes pre and post-run. Salt, Magnesium, and Potassium are all thrown out of balance with excessive sweat and effort. Hydrate with water and electrolytes before your workout, and replenish with them afterwards.

Fluid strategy. Plan your water and hydration stops along your route strategically before going out, or wear a hydration vest!
