Meet Brian Hammond – TruFit

BRIAN HAMMOND, TRUFIT SOLUTIONS.

Describe yourself in one sentence: I am a father of two girls, a husband, and an outdoor/endurance junkie!

Why do you do what you do? I started coaching because I personally loved being active myself. Since high school, I knew I wanted to be a teacher/coach but it wasn’t until post-college did I find out my passion would be to coach adults rather than teach children. The joy of helping someone work toward reaching their mental and physical limits is the best job in the world. Bike fitting started out as a side hobby but has turned into an obsession for the last 10 years; it is like solving an ever-changing problem. Looking at how the athlete’s body moves and how it needs to interact with the bike is completely different from athlete to athlete so each fit is like a new experience for me.

What are your top three services? The three services I offer at the studio are Dynamic Bike Fitting which is geared toward the athlete who is looking to buy a new bike or really needs to figure out how to optimize their current position on an existing bike. The Dial-In Fit is done on the athlete’s current bike (road, triathlon, mountain, or Peloton) and is focused on smaller adjustments to the bike and the athlete’s technique to help improve power, efficiency and limit any discomforts/injuries. I am also offering Cleat/Pedal Interface focusing on placing the cleat onto the shoe in the optimal position to limit the risk of injury and discomfort.

Where are you from? I grew up in Port Jervis, NY about 70 miles Northwest of NYC.

Grilled Cheese or PB&J? Have to go with the grilled cheese; as an endurance athlete, I eat way too many PB&Js to crave one.
