In 2024, we are simplifying how we use insurance.
Over the past few years, health insurance companies have made reimbursement for our services very difficult and have caused confusion with clients. We are all about transparency and great care, so we are removing some layers of the confusion.
Each insurance plan is different and covers different things – and it’s impossible for us to predict what that looks like on the front end because they are not as forthcoming with this information as they used to be.
This coming year, we will collect payment for services at the time of your appointment.
If you choose to be a Billing Client, we will determine whether or not you have out of network benefits, and attempt to bill your insurance on your behalf. Alternatively, you can choose to be a Self Submitting, or Non-Billing client; we will send you superbills following your appointments for you to submit to your insurance and receive your own reimbursement to keep. This is similar to the mental health model.
As soon as the first insurance claim processes, Custom’s billing team will be able to determine if your insurance plan will cover the entire cost of a visit. If they will not, Billing Clients will be transitioned back to Self-Submitting, where they will be eligible for packages, time-of-service discounts, and able to keep insurance reimbursement for themselves.
We understand that this is a big change, and insurance is confusing; we want to make things as streamlined and upfront as possible for you!
